Fruit just got more interesting thanks to the family-run Hughes Craft Distillery which has launched Ruby Blue, a premium naturally fruity whole berry liqueur. It blends real fruit ingredients with a unique bottle aging process that Hughes announces as the first liqueur of its kind.
The Northern Ireland based distillery created Ruby Blue when the family business discovered an old Irish recipe based on an ancient method of preserving berries. The range has three whole berry liqueurs, including Wild Blueberry, Blackcurrant and Cranberry and a fourth, Chilli Pepper liqueur. The distillation process involves the smooth base of Irish grain spirit, distilled five times and charcoal filtered with each bottle aged for three months. Ruby Blue’s works with Wild Cranberry over ice, with a twist of lime or the Zesty Blackcurrant Liqueur used as Irish cassis with champagne for fruity Kir Royale, among other fruity confections.
